Preparing Your Quilt

  1. Because each layer is mounted separately, do not pin or baste the layers together.
  2. If your quilt is directional, please mark it with a safety pin at the top center of your quilt top.
  3. Square and press the backing. If the backing is pieced, salvages should be removed as they can cause puckering. The backing must be 6" to 8" larger then your quilt top on all 4 sides.
  4. Check for loose seams, loose threads, and possible mistakes. Loose threads will show through the light areas of your quilt top. Excessive fullness or wavy borders cannot be quilted out.
  5. Please ensure your quilt top is well pressed to avoid wrinkles becoming pleats in the final product.
  6. If you are bringing batting from a package, please steam the batting first. The excessive creases could show in the final result.
  7. Any pressing, repairing seams, or squaring of the backing will be billed at an hourly rate of $25.00.
